MLM shines at games

Maruleng Local Municipality (MLM) participated in the Wellness Games hosted by Mopani TVET College at the Phalaborwa campus on Saturday, August 3.

MLM’s soccer teams shined winning the 40-year-plus age group game against Mopani TVET by 3-0. The under-40- year team won by 2-1.

The teams then played against CoGHSTA. The 40-year-plus age group won 2-0 but were beaten 5-2 in the under-40-year game. In netball, they equalised with CoGHSTA with a score of 14 each but went on to win 9-2 against Mopani TVET and 19-8 against Ba-Phalaborwa Netball Club.

Maruleng entered two mixedgender teams and one men’s team in volleyball. The first mixed-gender team played against CoGHSTA and won 15-12. The second team lost against Mopani TVET with a score of 25-18. The men’s volleyball team won 25-18 against CoGHSTA. MLM Mayor Tsheko Musolwa said it is important for employees to participate in sports.

“Sports play a critical role in fostering a supportive and productive work environment. It maintains optimal wellness and contributes towards building a supportive, productive, and resilient workplace,” the mayor added.
