Masingita Mall Marathon coming in September

The second Masingita Marathon promises to be bigger and adding a full marathon distance of 42.2km, a Comrades qualifier, to the event.

The 4-in-1 event will take place on Saturday, September 14 at the Masingita Mall Giyani. The 42.2km distance will start at the Masingita Mall Malamulele and will finish in Giyani. The 21.1km, 10km and 5km will start and end in Giyani. Time will tell if Ludwick Mamabolo from Nedbank Limpopo Running Club will defend his 21.1km men’s category title.

Last year Rufus Photo of Murray and Roberts Running Club came in second, and third was Isaac Mokgola from Rainbow Athletics Club. In the women’s event, Rosaline Isaiah, outshined all the other runners. She was followed by Joyce Netshilendzhe of Murray & Roberts Running Club and Gift Ramalebe of Nedbank Running Club in third place.

Ntwanano Mdaka, marketing manager at the Masingita Mall, told the Herald that they wanted to introduce the people of Giyani to a healthy living lifestyle by hosting the marathon. Online entries can be done at www.peaktiming.co.za until September 12 at midnight, while manual entries can be done at the mall every Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 at entrance 5 (FNB), however R15 will be added to the fee.

Registration fee for the 42.2km is R350, R250 for the 21.1km, R170 for the 10km and R100 for the 5km race. The temporary licence fee will be R50, T-shirts are limited. Number collection will the mall on September 12 and 13 from 10:00 to 18:00. For more information contact Ntwanano on 064 758 3995.
