Stanford shows Penryn their steel

Stanford Lake College (SLC) recently played their annual derby matches against Penryn College with the netball first team winning their fixture in style.

Excitement had been building on campus throughout the week, and all the teams worked hard for this big weekend. Friday afternoon was a flurry of activity with debating, chess, tennis, boys’ hockey and netball all kicking off. “Stanford’s chess and tennis players were dominant and the senior debaters managed a hardfought win,” says Beth Coetzee, marketer at SLC.

“The u/16 Badgers were a strong force throughout the weekend, however, the real highlight from Friday was the first team netball girls who outplayed an otherwise strong Penryn team,” says Coetzee. The u/14 girls’ hockey started the day’s fixtures on Saturday morning and the u/16 girls showed their dominance with a very good win.

“The first team hockey girls fought hard for a draw against Penryn. “Well done to all of the SLC teams and players for playing so well and representing the College. “A huge thank you to all of the coaches for their hard work and to the parents who supported the weekend.”

“Stanford expresses their gratitude to the teams and coaches from Penryn who pushed the Stanford Lake College players and gave them some brilliant competition,” says Coetzee.
