Roumen Farms defend their title

Roumen Farms successfully defended their title as Business League winners at Tzaneen Bowls Club on Thursday evening, when the team emerged victorious as the undefeated and dominant champions of the league.

The league took place over six weeks with each match spanning over 12 heads in a pro-ten format. Roumen Farms faced Marric Service Centre in the semi-finals and played a tough match against Instant Lawn in the finals of the league to emerge as undefeated champions. “I think the pro-ten format presented the teams with a new challenge this season.”

“It was a festive evening with the semi-finals and finals taking place with live music, entertainment for the children, and, of course, a braai to celebrate after the matches. There was a lot of team spirit, and everyone braved the cold for the finals,” says Tzaneen Bowls Club president, Ernst Swiglaar. Roumen Farms was the overall winner of the league with Instant Lawn in second place.

The club thanked their sponsors, Adams Café, PPS, Duke & Duchess, Highgrove Lodge, OK Sugarloaf, Olive Tree, SAB, and Spur for their support. The next Business League will start on October 14. Swiglaar says that the town’s social bowls players can look forward to another variation in August.
