Victory for Renegades at hockey tournaments

Scales Pangolin Rescue Fund hosts indoor matches to help raise funds for pangolins treatment, and for this week it was hockey.

Five hockey teams battled it out in difficult weather conditions to be crowned tournament champions at the Scales Sports Arena on Saturday. “Kicking off the tournament at 15:00, our teams played through the punishing heat, only to be greeted by a cold strong wind a couple of hours later,” said Amy Clark of Scales Conservation Fund.

“Our teams did not let the change in weather get them down. Over the course of 6.5 hours, all teams gave their best to become the next Scales Sports Arena champions. It came down to a final between the LA Eagles and Renegades. It was a very close match and after 20 gruelling minutes the Renegades were victorious with a 2-1 win,” she said.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to all the players and spectators who joined us on the day; as well as our tournament sponsors, Pam Golding Properties Hoedspruit, and The Thirsty Giraffe Pub and Grill for their continued support and amazing food.”

The next event is a one-day action cricket tournament which will be held on September 23. Details of the event will be published on the Scales Facebook page.
