Kings FC lift the Noza cup for the third time

Kings FC walked away with a trophy and R30 000 after beating Bon’wani Warriors 2-1 in the Noza tournament on Sunday at Ngove village.

Kings FC has defended the Noza tournament championship for the third year since 2021. The tournament, established by local businessman, Noza Ndlovu, has been dubbed the second biggest tournament in Giyani after the Zama-Zama tournament. It accommodates all the soccer and netball teams around the Greater Giyani Municipality.

Bon’wani Warriors were impressive throughout the tournament, and could probably have won the trophy if they had substituted their number six player earlier in the last match and replaced him with someone who was able to distribute the ball faster. Nevertheless, they received R10 000 and medals as a second prize, while the third team received R5 000 followed by R3 000 for the fourth team.

Speaking about the match, Kings FC’s coach Abele Rikhotso said he was happy that his team finally managed to take the win, especially after the pressure that comes with defending a title. “You know when you are the defending champions; the expectations are high, apart from that, being a local team, meant we had all our supporters flocking to the ground to watch us play,” said Rhikotso. “Disappointing our fans was not an option for us,” he said.
