Mashumba joins Black Leopards

Young and talented soccer star, Carlton 'Mashumba' Masedi from Nkowankowa Barcelona Development Club, has made it to the Black Leopards Academy.

The 19-year-old from Lenyenye is over the moon with the move.

“I’m happy, because I believe this serves as a good start to my soccer career. “It will give me the exposure and the chance to showcase my talent,” he said.

Even though he is currently at home due to Covid-19 regulations, he has already had few a training sessions with the club.

He told the Herald that he got along well with fellow players and coaches.

He said he is excited to see what is in store from this opportunity.

He further added that his longterm goal is to play for one of the big European teams and to represent Bafana Bafana.

Peace Khosa founder of Nkowankowa Barcelona told the Herald that he is happy for the young man.

“I started working with Mashumba from a young age and he is a well disciplined player. As a team we wish him nothing, but success. When we see our players succeed it is a well done job for us,” Khosa explained.

Khosa is synonymous with producing good quality players from the local leagues.

Some of the players which he produced include Brandon Baloyi (Baroka FC), Samkelo Shilubane (Mamelodi Sundowns), Kuhlula Mathebula (Transnet School of Excellence), Nathan Ngobeni (Stars of Africa Academy) and Karabo Mookamedi (Mamelodi Sundowns) amongst others.
