Good weekend of sailing at MYC
The water at Ebenezer dam was abuzz this past weekend as members of MYC Sailing & Sports Club hoisted sails and enjoyed a good sailing weekend.
With Spring in the air and the promise of Tuesday’s public holiday, members gathered for a few days of camping, swimming, sailing, and also to watch the World Cup rugby match on a big screen.
Although the rugby was somewhat of a disappointment, the sailing didn’t fail to deliver with a large number of yachts taking part in the weekend’s regatta.
Conditions were favourable with light to moderate winds on Saturday and Sunday, making it ideal for some of the newer members to get comfortable with the ropes.
On Monday the wind picked up and those keen for a bit of a challenge was treated to some exhilarating sailing.
Although the fast-dropping dam level does mean that boats have to be moved around quite a bit, with Ebenezer dam now at 47%, there is still room enough to be able to get a decent sailing experience.
MYC Sailing & Sports Club is situated at Ebenezer Dam, just outside Haenertsburg.
