TZANEEN: Ma-Afrika champs stumble at the hands of Celtic

This tournament is planned for September and will embrace cultural and heritage activities in addition to the sport activities.

The newly-crowned champions of the prestigious Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) Ma-Afrika Freedom Tournament, Lebaleng Shining Stars were given a rude awakening by Royal Celtic last weekend.

The Leolo-Mphame side were beaten 1-2 by the team commonly known as “Mpaleni” whilst fresh from lifting the coveted trophy.

The KLG Ma-Afrika Freedom Cup is one of the projects run under the auspices of KLG Sport. It was conceived as an educational tournament to raise awareness of the local communities off the freedom struggle in this country.

Lebaleng Shining Stars won the title two weeks ago after edging out Bokgaga Juventus Happy Stars 2-0 in the exciting finals hosted at the Soccer City facility in Lephepane.

The focus of all KLG Sport-affiliated teams is now on the raging league battle in both the Super and Premier divisions of this wonderful soccer league. Both Lebaleng and Royal Celtic campaign in the elite Premier division of the KLG Soccer League.

However, the Ma-Afrika finals had somehow pitted a Premier division club (Lebaleng Shining Stars) and a Super division opponent (Bokgaga Juventus).

Other than the KLG Schools Sport Event scheduled for 9 August, the next tournament for KLG Sport is the KLG Heritage-Bahlabine Heritage Tournament.

This tournament is planned for September and will embrace cultural and heritage activities in addition to the sport activities.

The following results of the KLG Soccer League matches played last weekend were received from the KLG Convener of referees, Mokoko Setagane.

Results: KLG Premier division; Saturday, 22 June 2019: Pharare Happy Stars 1-1 Bubs, Mogoboya Junior Chiefs 1-1 Carling, Bancock 0-2 Manamela Naughty Boys, Sevilla SC 1-2 Khopho All Stars.
