The third annual Dirt Dash was held on Saturday.

An estimated amount of 71 teams, 426 participants, ensured that the event was a great success!

Obstacles were set to test your agility, speed, team work and ability to get down and dirty to go home with a prize in your pocket.

Teams were given the opportunity to go into three different categories, namely, Delta Dirt, Sluggers and Mud Squad.

The main sponsor of the event was Smit & Kie Brokers, who had numerous teams enter the race and many supporters cheering them on.

According to the Cancer Care Group, this year the event’s proceeds will be used for the improvement and expansion of the Tzaneen Cancer Care Centre to effectively offer respite and palliative care for cancer patients and the purchase of medical equipment as well as implement programmes beneficial to cancer awareness.

Access to a cancer care centre unit offers much needed resources and support for those fighting cancer as well as their loved ones caring for them.

The event was hosted at Magoebaskloof Adventures and it did not disappoint.

The premises was filled with brightly coloured teams.

A few local charities joined in and sold yankees, hotdogs, candy and various other treats at the event.

The results for the Delta Dirt category is as follows:

First place went to Letsitele Style, second to Twin Beans and third to Team Bleed.

For Sluggers first place went to The Hard Rockers, second to Junior Ninjas, and third to the combined teams of Mopani Worms one and two.

The Mud Squad’s first place went to the Groove Crew, second place to Machine Warriors and Third to The Eagles.

“Thank you to Magoebaskloof Adventures for all there affords, our talkative MC Pierre Cronje and Dave Protter keeping an eye on all injuries during the event.

“This year we also decided to give other charities the opportunity to make some money and gave them the opportunity to also make money during the event, vendors were SPCA, SAVF, Lions Club and Rotary Tzaneen Club who almost all sold out!

“Red Plate and Heinricht Drewes also formed part of vendors with Panarottis who donated R400 with their spinning wheel,” Melissa Strydom, from the Cancer Care Group said.
