TZANEEN: Sky is the limit for Karabo

Tzaneen's very own soccer star, Karabo ‘Mboma’ Mookamedi, can attest to Oprah Winfrey's quote that 'The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams' after realising his soccer dream.

Mookamedi (23) from Nkowankowa Township started training with Mamelodi Sundowns on Monday after he was voted by his fans to be placed in the Tshwane team, during the Nedbank Ke Yona Challenge.

The young player says he is indebted to God and his fans for voting him to be part of the Brazilians.

“I would like to thank all my fans for the support they gave me and for believing in me.

“I will go to Sundowns to make everyone proud,”explained the overjoyed player.

He will be training with the team for the whole duration of October while being under assessment until his fate is decided.

His best friend and cousin, Sabbath Makumbila, says he is excited to see where he is now and wishes nothing but the best for him.

“My advice to Karabo is that the same God who opened doors for you, should be the same God you prioritise and put first in your life and I know that is only the beginning of great things to come in your life,” said Makumbila.

His mother Nelly Mookamedi ran out of words trying to describe how she feels about her son’s big break.

“I firstly want to acknowledge that it is nothing but God’s grace that this all happened.

“As parents we are happy for him, because it has been a long time coming,” Nelly explained.

The celebrations did not stop with his family, but also his church, The Chosen Generation International Ministries in Nkowankowa, under the leadership of Prophet Ethan, organised him a send off party recently.
