Super playoffs and the Pamo Cup launch

The winner of this two-leg encounter will snatch the Super division trophy.

The elegant members of the Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) Sport Committee met with delegates of various Super and Premier division clubs of the KLG Soccer League last Sunday.

A number of crucial issues relating to the activities of KLG Sport were fruitfully discussed.

In essence of the meeting is that KLG Sport has effectively unleashed a series of activities which are bound to excite thousands of loyal followers and supporters of KLG as they get into the December festive period.

It was officially decided that the much-anticipated Super division play-offs will be staged next weekend and the weekend thereafter.

Top four teams from both the Yellow and Green streams of the Super division of the KLG Soccer League face-off to determine the overall 2017 champions as well as the final log table of the Super division.

Mashakeni (Green stream winners) and MM Super Stars (Yellow stream winners) will face off next week Saturday at the Super ground.

The winner of this two-leg encounter will snatch the Super division trophy.

In terms of promotion, the two top teams from each stream (total 4 Super teams) will be promoted to the elite division, KLG Premier division, next season.

It appears that Mashakeni, MM Super stars, Pharare Happy Stars and Carling will ply their trade in the KLG Premier division next season.

All Super division play-off matches will be played at two common venues, Super ground and Myakayaka ground, the home of Mashakeni.

Other teams which will be involved in the play-off series for the purpose of top 8 configurations are: Myakyaka Fast Eleven, Young Movers, Long Valley and Khujwana Bagdad.

The 2017 Pamo Cup was also launched in the meeting last Sunday.

The Sport Committee has introduced a new and exciting format meant to incentivize all teams, particularly the Super division teams.

It is a combo format in terms of which Super division teams will play against one another until the quarter finals when they will be brought together with the Premier division teams.

According to the Chairman of KLG Sport, MarupineSape, affiliations are now open and will be on a “first come first serve basis”.

The closing date for receiving affiliation fees is 10 October while the public draw/toss will be o 11 December.The tournament kicks off on Saturday 16 December.

He emphasised that KLG is gearing for an unprecedented big attendance and mass participation by all in the communities.

“We are sure that we are going to have a very exciting tournament, especially that we are preparing for the 10th anniversary of KLG Schools Sport Event next year.

The journey starts now with the 2017 Pamo Cup, which is in its 8th year this season”, said Sape.

The Administrator of KLG Sport, Trilly Mogoboya, hinted at the possibility introducing the Pamo Junior Cup meant for the involvement of uunder-14 soccer.

The idea behind the Junior Pamo Cup is basically to include hundreds of young boys who have along been neglected during the December festive period.

The Pamo Cup is hosted in honour of the memory of the late Masilo Lukas Maphikiro “Pamo” Magoro.

This football legend played for the then mighty Lephepane Rovers in the 1980’s. He departed this planet in August 1994.

The Pamo Memorial Tournament is open to even teams that are not part of KLG Sport.
