Mapota wins the 42km Tuffy marathon

The Tzaneen Marathon Club's Tuffy Race was a huge success.

The Tzaneen Marathon Club was again a huge success with Rutendo Mapota winner of the 42km race in a record time.

The organisers would like to thank the following people for their support during the very successful Tzaneen Aida Tuffy 4 in 1 marathon.

Firstly, we would like to thank Wicus & Rethia van Vuuren and their personnel from Aida Lowveld for their financial sponsorship and assistance at the event. Without them the race would not be possible.

Coach House for the use of their facilities. Despite the hotel being fully booked for the weekend, they still hosted us with hospitality and enthusiasm.

Duo Landman of Landman Dried Produce in Hoedspruit for delicious dried mango’s which were handed out to all the participants.

FNB for water bottles which were handed out on Friday at the pre-entries.

Anthony Brett of SPAR for sponsorship of the Coke and Cream Soda for all participants.

James and Maria Barkley of Oasis Water for sponsorship of water sachets for participants. Mahela Boerdery for sponsorship of bananas and Capespan for sponsorship of lemons for all participants.

The following companies did an excellent job in manning water points along the route: FNB, Toyota, Simpson Motors, Compendium Accountants, Capespan, Gubitz Boerdery, Stols Houtwerke, Voltex, Round Table, Northern Security, SPCA, Mahela Boerdery. Houers, Letsitele for sponsoring refuge-bins.

The physiotherapists, Ester Venter, Janette Botha, Petro du Plessis, Marietjie Buys en Christa Rebel who voluntarily massaged tired and aching legs of participants.

We would like to thank the “residents of Agatha” for allowing us to disrupt their daily lives for one day to host our marathon.

We believe that the setting is very special in the running world.

We would like to thank every participant in the event. The people of Tzaneen supported us in a big way and we hope to see all off you next year for another Tuffy.

Lastly we would like to thank every club member who helped us to make this event such a huge success.
