Erik de Jager and Tommy Coetzee rallied the MDJ Motorsport Citi Golf to victory on the recently held All Tar Rally, Round five of the African Regional Rally Championship.
After a slow start on Friday’s first stage, the team quickly found their feet and continued their dominant performance which saw them winning all the remaining special stages, to take their winning tally to 5 wins out of 5 starts.
The team did however experience some problems, a under powered car and excessive tyre wear saw them drop time on both the hill climb stages.
The infamous Hill Climb stage is a 26 km rollercoaster ride with treacherous drop-offs and never ending corners through the Gerotek countryside and is regarded as one of the toughest rally stages in South Africa.
Although this couldn’t stop the team from winning their class by close to 3 minutes and coming home sixth overall out of the 27 starters.
