The announcement of the inaugural Limpopo Women in Sports Awards has brought excitement to the province’s sports fraternity.

This comes after the Limpopo Sports Confederation, in partnership with Women in Sports Awards (a women in sport empowerment initiative by Futballing Girls NPO) announced the opening date for nominations for the inaugural event. The awards are aimed at recognising, celebrating, honouring, and rewarding women and individuals’ achievements and their efforts in growing girls’ sport participation, creating  awareness as well as growing the brand of women in sports in the province.

Sport, Arts, and Culture MEC Nakedi Kekana has welcomed the initiative. “We are proud to associate ourselves with such a progressive initiative that digs deep into transformation and gender parity, and we are looking forward to seeing our ladies being recognised for their excellence, whether individually or as a collective,” the MEC said.
