Lukheri plays for Limpopo’s second division team, the Lilies, which was established earlier this year.
The games were played from Friday, June 2 at the Heartfelt Arena. She said being the only player from
Mopani to represent the province, is a privilege. “I feel so happy and honoured and it is all thanks to my coach, Joseph ‘Chucklus’ Nkuna who pushed me to get to where I am as a player,” she said.

The Lilies were hoping to make up for their losses in the first round, but despite their wish, they struggled and were smashed 67-37 by their sister team, the Limpopo Baobabs during a Limpopo derby on Sunday, June 4. They also lost 40-46 to the Free State Sonneblom team. However, the team displayed character and determination, and by the looks of things, they will improve with time as they are still a young team.
Lukheri started playing netball at school in 2005 and joined the Nkowankowa City Rebblers under the leadership of Nkuna in 2012. At the age of 20, she played for the Mopani team and also for the Limpopo Boababs. Her advice to anyone who wants to do well is: “Be dedicated and work hard as it pays off”.
