Artwell joins Titans Academy in Pretoria

Hard work and perseverance has paid off for Artwell Mokgolobotho after joining the Sport School of Excellence at the Titans Cricket Academy.

The young cricketer from Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen, officially joined the Pretoria team on Monday.

Last year in March he was the only Limpopo cricketer who was selected to represent the Titans Academy at the Franchise Academy Week in Cape Town.

He told the Herald that he is over the moon about the opportunity.

“I’m really excited and I can’t wait to start with training. I am looking forward to working with the coaches here.

“It’s going to be challenging and competitive at the same time and that’s exactly what I want in order for my cricket to go to new heights.

I’m really keen to learn from the experienced coaches,”he said.

His journey with the sport started when he was very young at Bombeleni Primary School.

At the age of eleven he was already representing Limpopo in national competitions and was selected for the the provincial team each year.

In 2016 Ben Vorster High School noticed his outstanding skills and offered him as scholarship. He completed Grade 12 last year.

“The Vossie family has been good to me, my coaches and teachers were very supportive.”

He said he is especially grateful for his coach, Renier de Jager, who always made sure he had everything he needed. “He was kind to everyone and he always had a smile on his face,” he concluded.
