Most people go through life tangled between the great paradox of ignorance and trapped by feelings of inadequacy.

Most people go through life tangled between the great paradox of ignorance and trapped by feelings of inadequacy and assumed mediocrity that the world continues to paint and sooner or later, take for granted the simple things that most of our human lives are made of.

Ordinary human beings have become renowned musicians, some patriots of the country while others chose to tap into a world of exploring the wonders of the universe and a study of the planets; others are clerks at government institutions and some appear on colossal billboards and flashy magazines.

I want a beautiful house below silhouette kloofs of Hartbeespoort and a longing to share splendid moments in the company of treasured family and friends around a bonfire under the black velvet sky in the middle of a Limpopo summer. I want to go on a backpacking adventure to the extravagant breath-taking Mediterranean beach in lively Ibiza with my loved one.

But how we often take for granted the true nobility involved in the bringing up of a child by a caregiver, where the child ultimately grows up to be a reasonably independent and balanced person.

What about Saturday mornings that end over a brew of rooibos while reading a good book; an afternoon spent mending a dress; the cheerful smile the middle-aged lady at FNB wears every single time you see her, need I say more?

For the list can wind up into eternity!

There is much to appreciate and be grateful for in our lives, especially when we learn to see our human experience through the lens of our own eyes.

There are a host of things that we too often ignore, things that we have grown to overlook and have paired with our “ordinary” everydays.
