LETTER: Hoedspruit Rotary receive a welcome surprise

"Trying to describe such a remarkable, generous gift made me think of Louis Armstrong’s beautiful song –'What a wonderful World' and what amazing people live in it."

Hoedspruit Rotary Club received the letter below from a lady called Giselinde Woischwill…

In response to Giselinde Woischwill’s letter, Lovelle Henderson from Hoedspruit Rotary wrote the following:

When I heard Ole Ahrens, President Elect, read this astonishing letter to us from his sister Giselinde Woischwill at a recent Rotary meeting, I had goose bumps on my arms. Trying to describe such a remarkable, generous gift made me think of Louis Armstrong’s beautiful song –“What a wonderful World” and what amazing people live in it.

Giselinde who was a teacher, is from Hamburg in Germany and will be turning 80 next year. She was recently on a month long visit to Hoedspruit to stay with her brother on Raptors View recovering from her own sad experience.

Ole, says: “She has a really sharp mind and still loves to explore and travel. She and her sprightly colleagues in the ‘young’ old age home recently organised their own art exhibition.”

She visited Hoedspruit five years ago and says,”I can’t believe the progress Hoedspruit has made in that period”.

Giselinde loves Ole’s involvement in Hoedspruit Rotary and the interesting projects that he has been involved with and wanted to be part of this new Rotary crèche project. She is very enthusiastic about how focused the team are and their understanding of what the project needs.

Ole says she offered this wonderful donation totally unsolicited from him and he is really grateful for her generosity as were all the Rotarians attending the meeting –”skies of blue, clouds of white and bright blessed days.”
