BOO-HOO to keyboard warriors…

The rise of social media has become more of a curse than a blessing and it has been used to berate, belittle and trample on others.

You know them, virtual arena gladiators and warriors always looking for someone or something to attack.

They spend ridiculous amounts of hours behind their touchscreens, rambling, insulting, degrading and creating awful memes aimed at vilifying others.

The rise of social media has become more of a curse than a blessing and it has been used to berate, belittle and trample on others.

We are now living in a time where an innocent picture of you can be transformed into a meme with a thousand different funny captions, most are just downright wrong and we, yes, I said, we because I have also found myself chuckling at some of them.

We’re probably all guilty of doing this or participating in the laughter with laughing emoticons.

Take, for instance, the late Mandoza, who was ridiculed for a long time for his bad English. Sadly, even after his death a couple of memes popped up, an evil and cruel place that is the internet, folks.

Where do we draw the line? Do we even realise that this type of behaviour could seriously ruin one’s self-esteem?

Recently, the veteran musician, PennyPenny landed a reality show and it is trending for all the wrong reasons, people watch purely just to hear him make mistakes when speaking in English.

I know, right? People actually watch the show just to have something to tweet or post funny memes about.

We should start focusing on sharing more positive stories, building each other up instead of wasting time and tearing each other down just for a couple of likes and retweets.
