There was a leak in the pool and the pool was handed back to the contractor to identify the leak and seal it.
The source of the problem was identified last week. However, there has been a delay by the sealing sub-contractor engaged by the contractor.
They are only expected at the pool today (20 September 2016).
After the identified section has been sealed, the pool will be tested. If the test is satisfactory, the pool will be refilled and handed back to the municipality by the contractor.
The reopening will depend on how quick the leak is sealed. We are currently not training any lifeguards, however as you might have seen in your own newspaper we advertised the position of a lifeguard and we are in the process of appointing one.
Like I have already said the pool was handed over to the contractor and most of the people there are employees of the contractor, however in terms of the one wearing GTM uniform we are going to hand it over to the relevant manager to handle in line with our policies.
It is also difficult to verify if it was their lunch break or tea break so we will have to have the relevant manager investigate and take a decision based on the information gathered.
