ANC coucillor joins EFF

Kedibone waga Sekhwela@ Shilubane-Makhwibidung Ward 27, Greater Tzaneen Municipality, writes:

The news that Greater Tzaneen ANC Councillor Dodo Mushwana is leaving the ANC was received with mixed emotions and responses from various sectors of society and the tripartite alliance in Mopani and Limpopo at large.

There are some in the ANC who believe that his departure from the ruling party was overdue, one of the Comrades was quoted as saying ” There is nothing sad about Mushwana leaving, he was never with us. A long time ago, he was pretending and even when we engage him sometimes, he was speaking with tongues and I never trusted him and I am happy we didn’t vote for him”

He was further quoted as saying” If his departure was innocent he should have left before the list conference. He was there for material gain and he forgot about the declaration, Hamba a Hambe”

There are those who are saying the departure of Mushwana is a great loss to the ANC especially now because of the looming local government elections.

Prominent ANC member and former Chief Whip of the ruling party in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Molebatsi Masedi commenting on Facebook about the departure of Mushwana said ” Today we need everyone of us. Those who leave are those who have been in the movement for long, their departure is a loss of experience and knowledge”

Whether the decision of Mushwana to leave the ANC is influenced by the fact that he didn’t make a cut on the List conference of the ruling party is immaterial.

To me, it is the confirmation that the ruling party is in shambles and its house is not in order and the sad reality is that, they are in denial.

It is just now during this list conference that their dirty linen are hung in public, because gloves are now off since everyone are jostling for positions in the upcoming local government elections.

In Mopani it started with the ANCYL issuing a statement on the 23-05-2016. The ANC Regional Executive Committee is accusing the Chairperson of their Mother body Seaparo Sekoati and Provincial Executive Committee member Dan Sebabi of engineering a plan to strip the powers of their Regional Secretary, Basikopo Makamu.

And they further allege that, Sekwati and Sebabi hired a mob to ambush and endanger the life of Comrade Makamu.

All of this is a clear indication that all is not well within the ruling party. Whether the leaving of Mushwana will have much effect on the ANC in the coming local government elections in Tzaneen municipality remains to be seen.

Whether comrades will leave the ANC because they didn’t make it to the list conference or not, the fact of the matter is the ruling party needs to acknowledge that they are in trouble and the sooner they get their act together the better.
