Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality marks Tourism Month

Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality marked the official launch of Tourism Month at the Phalaborwa town entrance last Thursday.

The day was to celebrate and promote the significance of tourism in the local economy while encouraging residents to embrace and appreciate the unique cultural and natural heritage that defines the region.

By highlighting the economic and social benefits of tourism, it fostered a deeper understanding of how the sector supports local businesses, creates jobs, and contributes to community development.

Acting Mayor Thompson Nkuna emphasised the importance of tourism as a second alternative source of economic growth for the local municipality, alongside the mining sector. He urged residents and other stakeholders to embrace this month as an opportunity to explore Phalaborwa, renowned for its wildlife.

The event was supported by various local organisations, including the Ba-Phalaborwa Tourism Association, Sefapane Lodge and Safaris, Mopani TVET College and Bushbaby Adventures.
