Nursery invests in the health of its employees

A day to celebrate the wellness of their employees was hosted by Letsitele nursery, Du Roi, on Thursday, August 8.

The annual event is hosted to celebrate the various cultures working at the company and promote the physical and mental health of employees. Employees participated in a 5km fun walk, sack races, balancing, three-legged races, rolling tyres, skipping, balloon catching, relays, and push-ups with the winners awarded medals and goody bags.

Sune Wiltshire, the general manager of Du Roi Laboratory, said they decided on a sports day as it gives everyone a chance to participate regardless of physical fitness, gender, or age. “Employees had the opportunity to have their blood pressure and sugar levels checked and also their HIV status confirmed by the Hlokomela and Mahela clinics.”

She said that they also invited financial institutions to assist employees with financial planning and saving for retirement. “We promote overall employee wellness.”

“This year we hosted a sports year, next year we will have a cultural day celebrating among others the Xitsonga, Sepedi and Khelobedu cultures of our employees.” Wiltshire added that the positive impact of these events is seen through the reduction of sick leave among employees. “Today we gathered as a company to celebrate building our teams,” she concluded.
