Local heroes are honoured at awards

Phalaborwa celebrated its heroes during the glitzy Phala Awards at the C U Guest House recently.

The recipients of the second edition of the awards ceremony included winners such as Lite Speak OUT as a community superhero; Speak Out Phalaborwa was honoured for community service; Phalaborwa Community Radio Station for community service; Ba-Phalaborwa Fraternal for humanitarian and religion; Nonyane Foundation for ubuntu; Kgwadi Ngoatje Arts and Cultural for lifetime achievement; VW Crew PHB for humanitarian; Sekeko Mkhabela for education; and Ba-Phalaborwa News for social media news.

Other winners were Sbx and Drip Kid as best local artists; best local superhero was won by Emelda Ralph; best local radio host was won by Michelle M; best local MC or host went to Short Cake; best local photographer or videographer was won by Huncho; the best local soccer player was Mpendulo Fakude; the face of Phalaborwa 2024 was Reggens Mmola; the best DJ was Dj Sweeto; the best brand was DripVibez; the business of the year winner was Phetolo Ya Sewi owned by Sewela; the best local event organiser was Musero; CEO of the decades was T.

Projects and the best dressed 2024 winner were Dineo Mokgalaka. Sewela Molagadihlare who won the business category for her business Phetole ya Sewi said she thanked God for the recognition and was overwhelmed by the honour. The organisers of the event, including Mike and Victoria Nonyane and Lebo, said they were pleased with the success of the event and thanked everyone who made it a success
