Setback for Happy Boys at ABC Motsepe Stream-A league

Giyani Happy Boys suffered another setback after drawing 0-0 in their away league game against Vondwe XI Bullets at Tshifudi Stadium on Saturday.

After a series of misfortunes, Happy Boys’ supporters were hoping that the Saturday match would redeem them and rekindle their hopes that their favourite team might still have a chance in the league. However, it turned out to be another disappointment further crushing the Happy Boys’ chances of making it to the top spot of the ABC Motsepe Stream-A league despite starting as the favourites.

After finishing second in the last season, expectations were high that the team was going to do well this season. But they have not had much luck with goals despite good performances; it has been one disappointment after another. However, Mpheni Home Defenders, who finished first in the last season but failed in the playoffs, continue to dominate the league with 21 points out of 9 matches, while Happy Boys is still sitting near the bottom of the log with 9 points from 9 games.

Emanuel FC was leading the league until they lost two games in a row, allowing Mpheni FC to overtake them. On Saturday, against United Artists, they failed to make use of the only chance they had to gain three points that would have put them one point behind Mpheni, despite United being at the bottom of the log. This has widened the gap between Emanuel and Mpheni FC by four points.

Currently, Emanuel FC sits in position two; however, as things stand, returning to first place will be much harder despite the huge support from Giyani soccer fans. With the Happy Boys out of the picture, many Giyani soccer fans view Emanuel FC as the only team that can challenge Mpheni’s dominance in the ABC Motsepe league, so they pack the stadium whenever Emanuel FC plays at home.
