Daktari Bush School ready for new year

Dakari Bush School and Orphanage is ready to build on their achievements of last year.

Charlotte Feron of Daktari says they will continue to be a beacon of wildlife education, and environmental consciousness for the local community. Daktari provides an orphanage for animals in need and offers eight students per week the opportunity to learn more about wildlife, the environment, and the importance of protecting it. “All members of Daktari share the same ambition to protect the animals around them and provide every child in the community with the possibility to learn more and become aware of the wildlife environment,” she says.

“One of the proudest achievements last year has been the progress made by the children in grasping the significance of animal protection and environmental sustainability. Through engaging learning experiences, the learners have not only gained knowledge but have also developed a deep appreciation for the world around them,” she adds.

She says that as the years go by, and because they have educated so many children, the impact reflects in the fact that the children who have been to Daktari have shared their knowledge with their families and friends thereby increasing awareness and becoming real role models in their villages. “Looking to the coming year, our resolutions are clear.”

“We want to continue positively influencing the youth in South Africa, further contributing to environmental protection and becoming environmental ambassadors. Additionally, our outreach programmes will persist in aiding the community in their employment endeavours, providing support and resources for those seeking opportunities.” She says Daktari Bush School and Orphanage stands at the crossroads of education, environmental sustainability, and community development. “We anticipate a future where we continue to contribute to a more sustainable and harmonious South Africa,” concludes Feron.
