Department monitors progess to make The Oaks road drivable

The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Nkakareng Rakgoale, visited the Oaks to Hoedspruit road (P116/1) on Wednesday, January 24 to monitor the progress on repairing the road.

The visit is part of a campaign called Operation Thiba Mekoti Ditseleng aimed at ensuring that the damaged roads are fixed to create a safer environment for motorists.

“We have started with the Thiba Mekoti programme to ensure that the roads are drivable during the rainy season.” She said the road is badly damaged and the repairs are a temporary solution to make the road usable.

She also said the department is working to find a permanent solution. The MEC was joined by Maruleng Municipality Mayor Tsheko Musolwa. He urged motorists to reduce speed when approaching workers repairing the road.

Road users say they appreciate the work by the department. “I think the farmers will be most happy as they have lost a lot of tyres on this road. “This is not only helping the motorists but the farmers as well,” a road user commented.
