Motlanalo makes big moves

Phalaborwa songbird Motlanalo Ramalo is making big musical moves with her latest musical offering, following a two-year break.

The Afro-pop sensation artist is currently in the studio cooking up great music. She recently signed with Shynbright Record Label and will in November host a ‘Love and Soul’ concert, where she will be featuring South Africa’s soul and RnB star, Zonke Dinaka. “This will be my first annual event, which will cater to mature music lovers, featuring jazz, soul, RnB, and Afro-pop music.

I specifically chose Zonke to be part of the event, as she inspires me musically,” she said. She is a powerhouse and I believe the fans will have a great time.” Motlanalo was originally born in Tzaneen at Mogabeng village but later moved to Namakgale. Her musical journey started at a very young age when she used to imitate her aunt, but she later realised that there was great talent when she performed at school events.

In 2018 she took a leap of faith and quit radio for music, which has worked out in her favour. “My musical calling was too loud to ignore, and I had to follow my passion. I have not looked back and I’m glad I followed my dreams,” she said. In 2019 she released her first album Mmahlabirwa, named after her grandmother, and four months later won the Limpopo Music Awards.

“The award was a confirmation to me that I had made the right choice to follow music.” She promised fans that the upcoming concert will blow them away. The Love and Soul Concert will be held at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in Polokwane on November 25.
