Meridian learners go around the world with Ndavi

Meridian Combined School’s foundation phase held a fun-filled concert on Thursday, August 3 in a packed school hall.

The concert’s theme was ‘Around the World with Miss South Africa, Ndavi Nokeri’. Grade 3 learner, Precious Ezomo, portrayed Ndavi, as she travelled to countries around the world. Learners from grades R to 3 performed dances from every country Ndavi visited.

The young ones also donned costumes and makeup from each country. The journey started in Cape Town to Somalia, Dubai, India, Hawaii, America, Mexico, Jamaica, Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Norway, Scotland, Paris, Germany, and back to South Africa. The concert concluded with the national anthem sung by the teachers and the learners.

Although Miss South Africa was not able to attend the show, her parents, Pastor Moses and Betty Nokeri, were there to watch the concert. Ndavi sent a video thanking the school for hosting an event showing her travels during her reign. According to the head of the department, Elmarie Moolman, the last concert was hosted before the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I’m extremely proud of my learners and team of teachers, they did a great job.” She said preparing for the concert took many days of hard work. “I want to thank the parents for their support, Ndavi Nokeri, and everyone who supported the show,” she concluded.
