Concerned residents warns to disturb upcoming mayoral Imbizo

The leader of the Ba-Phalaborwa Concerned Members, Edwin Malatji, is continuing his campaign to oust the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality mayor, Merriam Malatji.

In the past few months, he has initiated protests with the aim of getting the mayor to resign from her position. On Monday, August 7, he released a video in which he vows to disrupt the upcoming Mayoral Imbizo scheduled for Thursday, August 17 at the Maseke Movers Sports Ground in Ward 10.

“As Ba-Phalaborwa Concerned Members, we will be at the imbizo and want to see if the mayor will attend. “If she attends the imbizo will be forced to a standstill as we don’t want her there. “She must stay at home and not come close,” Edwin stated.

He urged the ANC to start looking for an acting mayor as they vow not to stop at anything if she does not vacate her position. He also urged the ruling party to stop allowing the mayor to work in the background, saying that if she continues, they will bring Phalaborwa to a standstill.

“We are like pitbulls, we bite until the bones crack,” Edwin warned. The Herald reached out to the office of the mayor for comment. At the time of going to print no response was received.
