Du Roi Multiplant hosts wellness day for workers

Du Roi Multiplant, a nursery in Letsitele, hosted a wellness day for their employees on Friday, August 4.

The day they started with a 5km colour run on the farm after which the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) gave a talk on the importance of blood donation. Anne-Héléné Meyer, Du Roi Multiplant’s general manager, said it is important for employers to ensure that their employees are healthy enough to do their day-to-day tasks.

“We have been hosting the event for many years now but were unable to host it from 2019 because of the Covid-19 pandemic,” she said. She said the event is presented annually and is part of their wellness programme. “The best part is the interaction between management and employees in support of each other.

We care about everyone’s mental and physical well-being,” Meyer said. According to her employees from the various departments compete against each other to boost morale but this year they decided to do things differently. She added that they all wear identical T-shirts to show unity and solidarity. “It is all about having fun in solidarity and being part of the community.” Du Roi also invited service providers to assist with the financial well-being of employees.

Prizes were up for grabs for the first man and woman in the colour run and the employee who made the most of the invited service providers. Percy Kgofelo won the men’s category of the run and Sylvia Nkuna the women’s category. Thandi Khosa won the prize for the employee who participated the most. Besides the prizes, all employees also got a day off.
