Balule Nature Reserve reaches out to local entrepreneur

An entrepreneur rendering cleaning services to lodges and private residences in the Balule Nature Reserve was gifted a vehicle after her own transport became unreliable.

John Anderson, a trustee of the Balule Outreach Trust, handed Lizzy Mohlala, the owner of Lizvic Cleaning Services, the keys to a custom-fitted new vehicle on Friday. Mohlala started her cleaning business five years ago from scratch and provides cleaning and gardening services in the Balule Nature Reserve. She has managed to grow her business without assistance and today provides employment for 21 people.

“Being a small business, her biggest challenge has been reliable transport to get her staff to clients. “Her existing vehicle was continually breaking down and costing money to keep it going,” said Ian Nowak, general manager of the Balule Nature Reserve and one of Mohlala’s clients. Nowak approached the trustees of the Balule Outreach Trust to sponsor a reliable and safe vehicle for Mohlala’s business.

“The trustees decided to purchase a reliable vehicle fitted with a custom canopy and upgraded suspension to ensure the safety and comfort of her staff when transporting them to her clients. “This vehicle will give her small business the reliability to maintain her existing client base and hopefully grow the business and provide more jobs,” Nowak said.

He said the Balule Nature Reserve is committed to sustainable outreach and wants small businesses from disadvantaged communities to participate in the supply chain of the reserve. “The assistance to Lizzy is yet another example of how the Balule Outreach Trust is making a difference in people’s lives,” he said. Mohlala was ecstatic with her new vehicle and is confident that its reliability will allow her business to grow.

She thanked Anderson, the trust, and Nowak for believing in her. Anderson also thanked Al Pierce, a member of the Balule Nature Reserve’s executive committee and a trustee of the trust for the work behind the scenes to make the donation happen. “We congratulate Lizzy on her new vehicle and wish her and her business every success!” Anderson concluded.
