Mrs SA semi-finalist, Lesego advocates for co-parenting

The Mrs South Africa pageant focuses on women with substance, community leaders, and women who inspire, and semi-finalist, Lesego Nkuna has these qualities.

She is an advocate for co-parenting and amplifies messages of responsible parenting. She and her husband both came into their marriage with children, and they both believe in putting their children first and not allowing adult issues to get in the way of the well-being of the child. Statistics South Africa, recently reported that 68.7% of children who were born in the last two decades live in single-parent households.

“I want to use my participation in the pageant as a testament to my unwavering commitment to empowering parents who are no longer in a relationship or married, to not just be present in their children’s lives but also to play meaningful and impactful roles in their children’s lives. As a parent, I know how challenging it can be to raise children, and I want to use this opportunity to inspire other single parents to never give up and to always put their children first,” she said.

Although Nkuna and her family are based in Hartbeespoort in the North West, her husband Aubrey grew up in Tzaneen and her mom lives in Ga-Matlala outside of Polokwane. While dismissing work commitments as the excuse used by some parents, the successful IT entrepreneur said: “As a successful businesswoman, I know the importance of balancing work and family life.” I want to show other parents that it is possible to achieve success in both areas of life and that responsible parenting is the foundation for happy and healthy families.”
