Meet the new CEO of Enock Mathebula Foundation

One of the most hardworking organisations in Phalaborwa, the Enock Mathebula Foundation, has appointed Gift Mathebula as the CEO recently.

The young and smart leader has impressed and proven herself capable to be at the helm of the ship. “I am excited about the new role and I will use my experience and knowledge to position the foundation and expand our offering to be able to help more people and grow our society,” she said. Gift (25) is the firstborn daughter of Enock and Maggie Mathebula, and a public relations graduate. Before her new appointment, she was the chief financial officer of the organisation.

Being raised by loving and giving parents, Gift learned the art of giving and empowering others at a young age. “My dad is a giver and through his company Bora Mining Services, he has done lots of community work. Through his giving, I also learned that when much is given much is expected,” Gift told the Herald. “When I was in Johannesburg studying, I was involved in charity work. When I returned my father told me that he wanted to start a foundation as he wants to reach more people and assist where he can. Fortunately, in August last year the foundation was launched,” she said.

Gift said that their vision is building a well-rounded society through education as most of the challenges that people face are caused by a lack of education and opportunities. Through the foundation, they want to empower society so people can also stand and make a mark in their respective communities. The Phalaborwabased foundation has already done countless charity works in the region and through Gift’s leadership, they plan to even go bigger and better.

Last year she launched her own mentorship programme called the Gift’s Mentorship, where she adopted 24 girls, who were doing Grade 7 at her former school, N’wasorini Primary School. The learners are now in Grade 8 at different schools. “I am passionate about a girl-child and through my mentorship, we are able to empower and equip them to be strong independent young ladies and expose them to what the world has to offer.” She also launched the Girls’ Empowerment Walk on August 9.

“The walk encourages mothers and their daughters to do this walk of life together, for women to protect and support their daughters, we need to take a stand and change the narrative,” she added. The proceeds from the walk were used to buy dignity packs for girls at school so that they don’t have to miss school during their periods.
