Local writes book about waiting room

A Tzaneen resident and former Merensky High School learner has written a book after tragedy struck and she was forced to spend hours in the waiting room of a hospital.

The book, ‘Die Ding Van Die Milpark Trauma Intensiewe Sorg Eenheid Wagkamer’ is based on real events experienced by Denise Miller at the Netcare Milpark Hospital in Gauteng “My husband and I started a project in 2018 building a filling station in Modjadjiskloof. We had a lot of ups and downs and it became a five-year project. Everything just started to work out when tragedy struck.

“In May 2022 he was removing the roof on a demolishing site when he fell through the roof from a height of six metres.” He was taken to Milpark and while sitting in the waiting room, Denise started to jot down her experience. Later, when family members requested updates on her husband’s health, she sent them extracts from her notes.”The book is written from the perspective of a relative of a patient and it takes you through the ups and downs, with a little humour at times,” Denise says.

Writing about her experience was a coping mechanism and friends later suggested that she publish it in a book. “It’s a short easy book. My e-book will be available online and the hard copy will be in store at Quest in Modjadjiskloof,” she added. People interested in her book can contact her at 072 717 3008.
