“I am a person with a soul, someone who accepts people as they are without judging them. I have a positive outlook on life. I prepare my music on weekends and during my free time after work on weekdays,” she told the Herald. “I prepare well and practice so I can feel confident going into an event. I have played at various places, such as Ponta in Giyani, Chil Spot, Mtonga and Uncle Sam shisanyama in Elim, Vibe zezinto in Phalaborwa, Momes places @ Nkuzana, Bebe’s village in Nwamatatana, Marikana in Mageva village, Amu’s Resort and many more,” said Mimie De DJ.
She said that the best way to juggle her DJ work with her day job is to be structured, organised, and able to multitask. “I don’t let my DJ work get in my way at work. I have also enrolled for an Honours degree in Social Work at the University of Limpopo, I am currently also studying towards a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase at Unisa.

“It is challenging to find the time to do everything. I had to give up a lot of my free time to do research, listen, and learn. My future plan is to become a DJ star with a big following and get more DJ gigs,” she added. Mimie De Dj said she would like to work with the humble multi-award-winning DJ Black Coffee who she respects greatly. “I am not sure if I wanted to be a DJ or not, but my love for music and the number of hours I spent on it, made me realise that I want to be a DJ.
She thanked her friends Lady Shiks and Rixongile for believing in her. “Thank you to everyone who supported me through my journey, I couldn’t have achieved my goals without you.”
