Vehicles and offices torched in Kgapane

Police in Bolobedu have launched a massive manhunt for suspects who burned down an office building and motor vehicles worth more than R2 million in Kgapane on Saturday.

According to a police statement, the events unfolded at around midnight on Saturday night. “According to information, a 32-year-old security officer was on duty at the premises when he noticed a fire in the yard. He investigated and realised that the office building was on fire together with the vehicles parked in the yard,” stated Col Malesela Ledwaba, provincial police spokesperson.

“The incident was immediately reported to the police and members of the Emergency Fire Brigade managed to extinguish the fire,” said Ledwaba. The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage and police have opened a case of malicious damage to property. A police investigation is continuing.
