Phalaborwa commander wins big at provincial awards

The station commander of Phalaborwa Police Station, Col Patricia Rakhadani, scooped the 2021 Limpopo Vispol Employee of the Year Award recently.

The award was for employees in a level 8-12 category. The award ceremony was held at Polokwane Gateway Airport. Some of the attendees included the deputy provincial commissioners of the Limpopo province, Maj Gen Samuel Manala and Maj Gen Christine Morakaladi, the provincial management, district commissioners, station commanders, and members from different stations.

The hard-working and dedicated Rakhadani was recognised by the provincial management for investing her time in serving the community of BaPhalaborwa. Last year she successfully led Zone 3 of the Mopani district, which covers the policing precinct of Namakgale, Lulekani, Gravelotte, Hoedspruit, Phalaborwa SAPS, and Ba-Phalaborwa JOC (joint operations centre).

Some of the duties she initiated, performed, managed, and facilitated include: • Donating food parcels, clothing, and shelter which included the building of a new three-roomed house for a needy family. • Leading the JOC in the fight against Covid-19 by handing over masks and sanitisers to Maphutha Malatji Hospital, Phalaborwa Taxi Rank, schools, different departments, and businesses sectors. • Conducting community outreach programmes and school safety programmes. • Donating sanitary towels to needy girls around schools.

• Conducting domestic violence and femicide workshops and awareness at churches, schools, and around the community. “My obligation is to serve people through dedication, hard work, and love. “This award is for the people in the BaPhalaborwa municipal area as well as the Mopani district as a whole,” Rakhadani told the Herald.

“Special thanks to the support from Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, the local mines (PMC and Foskor in particular), government departments, CPF, VEP, businesses sectors, pastor fraternity, NGOs, LEOLO (traditional leaders), and other stakeholders. “Without you, it was going to be difficult for me to achieve this award.

“Your unwavering support is not gone unnoticed. “Keep Ba-Phalaborwa shining,” concluded Rakhadani.
