A man who asked for assistance to repair his dilapidated house has passed away.

The family of a wheelchairbound man from Welverdiend outside Hoedspruit is asking for help with funeral arrangements after they lost their breadwinner on Friday, March 11.

Herald did a story on Harrison Mnisi and his family living in dire conditions. They were being assisted by the Themba Nyathi Foundation. Their RDP house was cracked and lacked window panes. “Harrison Mnisi was working in the Kruger National Park (KNP) when he was in a car accident which left him in a wheelchair.

“He receives a social grant and lives with his wife and their granddaughter,” said Penuel Mhangane, CEO of the foundation. “We have asked local lodges in the Manyeleti Game Reserve for assistance but are still waiting for their response.” The foundation carries the name of well-known gospel singer, Themba Nyathi.

Mhangane said that in 2019 the foundation raised funds to buy school uniforms for children in need. He said that seventy children from various schools in the surrounding villages benefitted from the project. He said they want to make a difference which is why they want to help the Mnisi family with proper shelter. Contact Mhangane on 066 345 3196 or 079 953 2818 to assist.
