Local interior design company in national competition

A Tzaneen-based interior design firm is in the finals of a national small business entrepreneurship competition.

Jacoline S. Designs, owned by Jacoline and Tshepo Phalane, a married couple from Lephepane village, who have wowed the judges with their exceptional work in order to secure a spot in the finals.

The local company specialises in residential, hospitality, and commercial design projects. They have been shortlisted in the Lulalend Small Business Spotlight Initiative and stand the chance of winning an interest-free loan to support the business.

With a vision to create beautiful interiors through sustainable traditional techniques and materials, they are currently developing a product line with local artisans that will feature bespoke African handcrafted products.

“We believe sustainable supplier relationships are imperative to stimulate job creation and economic growth,” says Jacoline.

The pair moved from Johannesburg to Tzaneen, Tshepo’s hometown, to start their lives here and aim to grow their business in Limpopo.

“Although a lot of our clients are based in Joburg, we do believe in the potential that the region has. There is a lot of money which is circulating within Tzaneen and surrounding areas. We are excited to be doing business this side.”

Jacoline defied the belief that interior design services are expensive and unnecessary. She told the Herald that their services are essential for anyone who wants to enjoy their space. “We are able to work with whatever budget our clients have.

“We are able to help you refine your space according to your lifestyle. “These days many people are spending time at home, we assist to make their space functional for them.”
