Ntsako creates his own food delivery app

It seems as though the coronavirus pandemic has not only created global havoc, but has also produced opportunities for someone like Ntsako Shilubane.

The 33-year-old from Nkowankowa in Tzaneen has created a food delivery app called Gawulo.

“I got the idea when the country went into lockdown last year and no one was able to go out to buy take-aways, specifically in townships.

“I thought of creating a platform, an idea that is not new, but one that operates effectively to help restaurants in townships to prepare and sell meals.

“I also wanted to create employment for people who were looking for work, who can deliver either by walking, cycling or using scooters,” he explained.

Ntsako currently works as a marketing specialist and as a software developer for Kiss Digital Agency, which he started with a friend in 2014.

He has already made some headway and currently works with 65 eateries in total, seven in Limpopo, 22 in Mpumalanga and the rest in Gauteng.

His long term goal for the business is to see it being used by customers nationally.

The beauty of the app is that it is cost-effective and clients are only charged R2 for using the app.

It can be downloaded online or visit www.gawulo.co.za. Ntsako is calling on for more eateries and drivers to be part of his business.
