Debonairs in Phalaborwa wins national award

Debonairs Pizza’s Phalaborwa branch has won the Doughnator of the Year award recently.

They received a R25 000 cheque from the pizza franchise head office which was handed over by marketing manager, Rirhandzu Manganyi.

The local pizzeria was surprised when they heard of the honour that had befell them.

The award was for being the franchise that donates the most and makes a difference in their community.

The branch bakes pizza bread from the cut-offs from their pizzas, which they donate to the needy and a local church in Boelang.

Phalaborwa branch manager, Ivan Pearson, said it is easy for them to help out those in need because of the good support they receive from the community.

Kobus Van Staden, who heads the local church in the village, says the bread really makes a difference for the beneficiaries.

“Every week families receive pizza bread which they rely on for survival.

“Some of the young ones take it to school as lunch, so we are really grateful for the support,” Van Staden concluded.
