The Brewery raises funds for rhino conservation

They have only been operating for less than a year but The Brewery in Hoedspruit is already making a difference in the community.

They partnered with Nkombe-Rhino to raise funds for the conservation of rhinos.

The initiative started on Wednesday, 24 March and for every 500ml Limpopo Lager sold R20 will be donated to Nkombe Rhino.

Nkombe Rhino is a Non-Profit Organisation that focuses on the protection of endangered species.

Their focus started on the frontline protection of Rhinos in the early 2000s and has since branched out to various other endangered and threatened species.

Owner and operations manager for The Brewery, Dominique Maritz told Herald that their target was to sell 600 draughts.

She said The brewery has always wanted to get involved in various conservation efforts since opening last year April, but due to Covid, it was not possible.

“We’re finally in a position to support these worthy causes and since meeting with the team from Nkombe Rhino felt like this was the perfect cause to get involved in. We are hoping that in the near future The Brewery will be able to start brewing its own beer on-site and with that, we will have a dedicated lager where all proceeds will be donated to various conservation causes and organisations,” said Maritz.

“We set ourselves a target of 600 draughts for the initiative. Which would mean R12 000 would be donated to Nkombe Rhino. We couldn’t be more grateful for the community of Hoedspruit. The love and support we have received is overwhelming,” she said.
