Sweetest fountain water from the mountains of Magoebaskloof

Laboratory tests proved the water from the source to be of an outstanding quality.

Forest Mountain Natural Spring Water (Pty) Ltd is a proudly South African company founded by Limpopians Jackie Maake and Herby Rautenbach.

Maake’s 20 years’ experience in construction and the hospitality industry, together with Rautenbach’s 40 years in construction project management and farming, bring together a dynamic pair that is implementing not only their knowledge of – and love for – the Thabeng ya Makgoba region, but also professional experience gained in their respective fields, to bring to life the Forest Mountain Natural Spring Water company.

With Maake’s Masters degree from the University of Liverpool and Rautenbach’s BSc (Hon) in Construction Management from the University of Pretoria, the almost-unlikely duo came together to work towards reaching one common goal – providing the Greater Tzaneen Makgoba Limpopo region of natural spring water.

Laboratory tests proved the water from the source to be of an outstanding quality. Established on 16 March 2020, the company implemented a first phase of bottling still water through an ultrafiltration package plant based in Thabeng ya Makgoba. The system produces no less than 2000 litres per hour of natural mountain water.

Water from the numerous natural springs in the mountain accumulate to ultimately form the Helpmekaar River. This naturally purified water is syphoned through activated carbon, micro-filtered and UV treated to produce untampered, natural spring water of the highest quality.

With the bottling plant based on the Houtbosdorp Road of Magoebaskloof; the nearby capital of Polokwane proved to be the ideal location for the distribution office. Forest Mountain Natural Spring Water is committed to sustainably providing the immediate surrounding environment of still spring water of an outstanding quality; with long-term goals focusing on skills development of local workforce in order to further expand distribution throughout the Limpopo province and, ultimately, throughout South Africa.

The inspiring story behind Forest Mountain Water

Herby Rautenbach lived in Magoebaskloof until 2000 from where he ran two businesses in construction and plumbing. In 2000, he and his family relocated to Pretoria where he worked in project management. Two years ago he and his wife Gerda returned to their small farm called Kaltenbach on the Houtbosdorp road, Magoebaskloof.

One day he received a visit from a man called Jackie Maake. “Do you remember me?” Jackie asked him. “You paid for my studies to do apprenticeship in the nineties.” Herby could not remember him, but Jackie told him that he received a message from God to visit the man who helped him and gifted Herby with half a sheep, eggs and fruit on that day.

Jackie had excelled in life and as a qualified Civil Engineer boasts a Masters degree from the University of Liverpool. He has settled in Polokwane from where he runs several businesses. A friendship ensued between the two men and during a visit, the sweet water from the river was harvested by Jackie and taken for testing.

The results were phenomenal and a new venture between the two men was born!  

Why Forest Mountain Spring Water?

• It is not prepared water. It is spring water harvested in the pollution-free mountains of Magoebaskloof.
• It has a pH7 which means that its acidity is neutral. This helps to keep the body in balance and to regulate metabolic processes.
