Children’s vaccines to be made available in clinics

The Limpopo Department of Health said in a statement on Monday that children's vaccines are expected to be available at clinics by the end of this week.

Department spokesperson Neil Shikwambana said the shortage at the province’s health care facilities was caused by the fact that suppliers have been struggling to access the vaccines in the market due to Covid-19 inconveniences.

Neil said the department has managed to secure a supply of these vaccines and they are expected to be available at facilities by the end of this week.

Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba said the department will embark on a catch-up program to address the backlogs in vaccination of children who have missed their dose due to shortages at facilities.

“We would like to genuinely apologise for this inconvenience. We want to reassure our communities that all children who missed their dosages will receive them during our catch-up program,” she said.
