Nature inspires carpenters unique furniture

Two men from Hoedspruit making unique furniture give credit to nature surrounding them for their beautiful work.

Joseph Khoza and Tshegofatso Nkanyiso Makwe make wooden furniture like no other and people cannot stop praising them.

Makwe recently shared their work on Facebook and almost everyone who saw the post asked for his number.

Their unique style of collaborating roots in their furniture is what makes them standout from other carpenters.

“Our motivation to make this kind of furniture is the nature we are surrounded by and we want to share some of it with the people from the cities,” he said.

The talented carpenters use their skills to make couches, coffee tables, dining room tables and chairs.

Khoza is good at assembling the wood so that it turns out to be the furniture that it is while Makwe on the other hand is great wood carver and a marketer.

To make a very detailed piece can take the duo up to a month to finish, however a less detailed pieces can take up to a week or two to finish.

“We are targeting home owners and some business owners that would love to have a piece of our unique furniture in their work space. We are also also targeting the international market. Our pieces start from as low as R3000 and can go up to as much as R25000,” said Khoza the man who came up with the business idea.

The duo told Herald that nothing makes them more excited like seeing their work get recognition.

“We feel very excited because from where we work not a lot of people can see what we are doing but when we get recognised it is a bonus to us,” they said.

They said the support they get from their clients has made it possible to put food on their tables.

“Joseph even bought a van and renovated his house with the money.”

Their highlight since they started was getting a R70 000 order.

“We now have an order that must get delivered in Austria which is one of our other biggest sales,” said Makwe.
