The road is blocked from the Mafarana entrance to Letsitele and Mariveni T-junction.
As a result, trucks coming from Mpumalanga to the area are prevented to drive through the area.
The residents are demanding that the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) immediately hire a contractor to finish the incomplete Mulati road upgrading project.
“It is a rainy season now and when it rains the road becomes unusable.

“We don’t care who GTM hires as a contractor, but we just want to see the road completed,” one of the protesters said.
The project began in February 2019, but it came to a halt after the municipality allegedly refused to pay the contractor, Tshiamiso (PTY) LTD, double the amount which the two parties initially agreed on before the project began.

“In respect of the Mulati project, Tshiamiso tendered for an amount of R26.8 million instead of the over R57 million which they are now claiming.
“Termination was for the purpose of administrative compliance, which is a legal obligation, ” GTM spokesman, Neville Ndlala told the Herald.
The matter is now with the Limpopo High Court, where Judge Phatudi will be giving a final judgement within 90 days dating from 5 November.
