29 taxis and buses impounded around Tzaneen

Twenty-nine minibus taxis and four buses were impounded during a joint districts provincial public transport operation on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted by Tzaneen police in conjunction with Limpopo traffic police on the R71 Tzaneen-Gravelotte road and R36 Tzaneen-Lydenburg road.

Tzaneen police spokesperson Sgt Maurice Nkhwashu said each taxi was fined R5000 for impoundment and each bus R10 000. Drivers were also fined R1000 for permits.

“The combined total amount of fines is R188 300,” he said.
