FABCO establishes wholesale markets in Mopani district

Executive mayor, Pule Shayi says Mopani District Municipality will always seek to forge partnerships with cooperatives, especially those with capacity to contribute to food security.

He was speaking at the event which marked the establishment of Farmers Business Cooperative (FABCO)’s wholesale markets at Nkowankowa industrial park recently.

The wholesale markets establishment was aided by the implementation of COVID-19 Relief Fund from the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.

FABCO is now leasing Unit 203 at the Nkowankowa Industrial Park which will be used to establish wholesale markets for farm units, farm mechanisation, and farm fresh produce.

Shayi said that FABCO Primary Cooperative Limited success will prove to people that “radical economic transformation can be implemented without getting your hands in the cookie jar.”

He said that government, at the level of municipalities will create enabling environment for businesses to thrive, but it was important for stakeholders to work together.

“A municipality is an instrument to change the lives of our people. It’s important for us jointly to work with the royal leaders to ensure that there is proper planning in the allocation of land,” said Shayi.

The executive mayor was joined by the members of Mayoral Committee for Local Economic Development, councillor Christinah Mohale.

Also in attendance was Chief Malesela Dikgale, the chairperson of Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders.
